"Training with the Masters"
hosted by the Bridgend Martial Arts Academy
Saturday 27th February in the Bridgend Recreation Centre brought together 270 Tang Soo Do practitioners from Federations and Associations from all around the United Kingdom without prejudice or politics standing in the way of what was always going to be a wonderful training day.
Support for the event was outstanding and exceeded all expectations, so much so that the original planned 4 Guest Master Instructors needed to be increased to 6 during the week leading up to the event due to the increased level of support that was pledged to the event.
The day started with the usual formalities of saluting the flags, meditation and showing our respects to each other, followed my Master Thomas presenting the Heads of Organisations with Cerfictates of Appreciation in recognition for their outstanding contribution and support of this special event, without their support, this event would never have been possible. Presentations were made to the following:
- Master Brian Edmondson, representing Tiger Gym International
- Master John Trudgill, representing the Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation
- Master Jan De-Vry representing the European Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation
- Master Eccles representing Phoenix Tang Soo Do
- Master John Dove representing the British Tang Soo Do Federation
- Master Dave Powell representing the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation
- Master Chris White representing Dragon Tang Soo Do
- Master Jacqui Fisher representing the Association of Traditional Martial Arts
Master Thomas also thanked all the students who had made the effort to attend and support the event, their contribution guaranteed the success of the event and the subsequent funds raised for our chosen charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care, was simply sensational. In summary, this event will guarantee over £1000 will be donated to the charity in addition to a very generous donation to the Tang Soo Do Union.
A special mention has to go out to those Guest Master Instructors and Instructors who made the day so special for all the students, as the feedback we have received so far has simply been brilliant.
